16th September 2010 - Stanwix Urban by-Election
Carlisle Greens are very proud of the campaign we ran in Stanwix Urban; we very explicitly stood up for public services and were the only party to stand up for the public sector and ordinary working people.
Following the resignation of Conservative councillor John Stevenson, a by-election is to be held in the ward of Stanwix Urban on Thursday, 16th September.
The Green candidate is Hazel Bowmaker. Being a board member of a local housing association and working for a Carlisle advice service, Hazel has a rich experience of working closely with people and a proven track record of getting things done. By carrying these abilities to the role of local councillor, Hazel will be in a position to make a huge, positive contribution to a vibrant Stanwix Urban community.
The first Green Party MP gives us enhanced media credibility, greater visibility and consolidates our position as the fourth party in British politics. We now have someone right at the heart of decision making. And just as importantly the people of Brighton Pavilion have an excellent local MP.
