We will launch our 2012 Green manifesto for Carlisle, titled ENOUGH!, at a public meeting at Greystone Community Centre, Close Street, Carlisle at 8pm on Wednesday April 18th. All are welcome to attend and media coverage has been confirmed.

ENOUGH! sets out a comprehensive vision for the city of Carlisle that aims to oppose the current climate of austerity, invest in the local economy and regenerate the city.
Monthly party meetings run from 7pm til 9pm and are held at Greystone Community Centre, Close Street, Carlisle, CA1 2HA.
The business part of the meeting runs between 7pm-7:50pm and is open to members only.

A huge thank you to all who voted for me in the Castle by-election on 1st March. Your continued support enables the Green Party to hold the other parties to account by articulating a much more positive and alternative vision for Carlisle.

We ran a very positive campaign in Castle, and outlined our manifesto pledges on affordable living, affordable transport, affordable housing and supporting Carlisle's credit union as an ethical alternative to the banking system.

“Welcome to the bank of ideas, come in, the meeting is about to start”. The smartly dressed young man showed me to a seat inside the recently occupied UBS building in London.
November 30th has been marked the largest strike in a generation. Two million people have taken action and 1000 demonstrations have taken place across the country, and Carlisle saw its largest demonstration in years.
According to ITV Border News, ‘best estimates suggest that 1500 people marched through the city centre.’
Once again the Egyptian revolution is centre stage. Working class Egyptians and young unemployed are fighting to get rid of the military regime.
What we are seeing is a feat of endurance and courage that beggars belief. As this piece is being written AlJazeera is showing images of crowds beating back armoured cars with fireworks. This is David and Goliath before the eyes of the world.
Since 15 October a group of protesters have been holding an occupation in the City of London. This is part of a global movement that is protesting about the way in which the financial system has been acting in the interests of the top 1% of the population.
This week members of the Carlisle Green Party travelled to London to spend time with the protestors and see the occupation at first hand.
In politics August is known as the silly season, the time when politicians are on holiday and nothing happens. Well, that was how it was meant to be when all of Europe’s politicans jetted off to leave their cities and economies.
We are writing first of all to offer our unconditional support for everyone in the public sector. This government have declared war on the public, and we feel that the unions are in the front line of resistance.
